September 2019 marks the 25th anniversary of the iconic Friends series. I believe it is truly one of the greatest comedy series in history (I don't want to get into the politics of it, this is why I opted to say one of them) and its legacy endures up to this day, thanks to streaming services such as Netflix (and, from next year, HBO Go).
But the story can't end this way. I watch Friends repeat all the time, one cannot get tired of them, but I truly wish the crew would get back together for a project related to this show - either a film, revisiting the characters after years and years, or a re-boot TV show.
Other great TV shows have been able to come back after a long pause - I would mention here the X-Files, which I believe seasons 9 and 10 were really good, despite mixed reviews, and Arrested Development.
I have heard all the arguments against a Friends reunion, yet I'm still not convinced: that it is time to move on, that the show is about a specific time in one's life (the path to become an adult in New York City in the '90s) or that the pressure to fail with the new show is too big and the producers preferred to put a nice bow on the show and leave it be.
