Tell US Congress: GMO products must be labeled accordingly!

Petition Objective: To ensure that all genetically modified organisms are labeled as such across the entire United States
Petition Text: We, the undersigned, strongly believe that we have the right to know what type of food we put on our plates and what we are putting into our body. GMOs have been a hot topic in the United States for years – while in the European Union, they have been banned altogether, they are widespread in the US and easily accessible to consumers nationwide.
The state of Vermont has recently adopted a law requiring products containing GMO to be labeled accordingly. However, there is no federal mandate that would require companies to do such a thing on a nationwide scale.
This can only benefit giants such as Monsanto, who is the world’s biggest GMO producer and loobies millions of dollars each year to Congress such laws that label GMO products are not voted in. Why does the world’s leading producer in GMO does not want the public to know they are labeled as such? Something is truly suspicious!
This topic has been debated over and over (including in Presidential debates), yet so little was done on this topic.
We, the undersigned, believe that the time for mandatory GMO labeling laws have loong been overdue and it is time for Congress to do the right thing. Although the temptation of taking in millions of dollars from companies like Monsanto is huge, ultimately lawmakers must protect the interests of the American consumers.
American have the right to know what they are eating! I hope everyone agrees with this matter
