The truth is out there...
To start with, X-Files arguably one of the most iconic TV shows of all time; it was a pioneer in made ways and you will find numerous articles about how this sci-fi series change not only the perspective of the genre, but entire television industry. I will not get into all the details now (a simply online search will find you the long list of arguments to support the claims above), but I certainly must point out that the X-Files in a critically acclaimed show and no one can dispute that.
Having said that, we must get into the real issue: The X-Files successfully returned on FOX for Seasons 10 and 11 and I want to say I enjoyed them very much; despite receiving mixed reviewed, I thought the show respected the original recipe and provided a good, smooth transition from the past.
But at the end of season 11, Gillian Anderson announced she was done and that she will not return as Agent Dana Scully again. This is obviously a blow to the show, but efforts must be put in to try to pursue the actress; if this is not possible, then the show should return for at least another season without her. Let's not forget that David Duchovny fled the show and was replaced by Robert Patrick, before reprising his lead role as Mulder again. The show survived and thrived either way.
