Do not allow China to host the 2022 Olympics unless dogs are treated better!

The situation for dogs in China is not particularly good and this is why we, the undersigned, believe that showcasing the 2022 Winter Olympic Games in Peking would be a terrible mistake - the deadline for reversing course is near, so we must apply as much pressure as possible on the International Olympic Committee and urge them to change their mind!
China has refused for decades to implement animal welfare legislation. While pet ownership has risen consistently, there are still many people that regard dogs and cats (and all pets in general) as impure creatures, that serve no purpose on this planet; it would take me a very long time to provide you all the details of how dogs are treated there. A simple online search will give you that answer, on the other hand.
Given the policies of the Chinese government - not taking action on this matter despite huge domestic and international protests - some form of retaliation must be imposed. China is opening the gate to the world for two weeks, but this is only a superficial one. A profound and meaningful reform must get underway, in the name of the animals. Unless this vital piece of legislation comes into force, it would be extremely difficult to envision such a prestigious event be held in China. The IOC cannot make the same mistake it did in 2008! They are better than this!
