Dear friends, I am counting on your support to remove the breed specific laws that are in place in the state of Wisconsin. I find it absolutely unacceptable for people not to be able to own pit bulls, gentle creatures that are highly intelligent and extremely social creatures.
The belief that pit bulls cause havoc is completely untrue and has been repealed scientifically in numerous cases. Cesar Milan, the notorious dog whisperer, has also spoken in favour of these majestic dogs. They are deeply misunderstood around the world based on people's lack of knowledge. The truth is, irresponsible owners, media, and myths have highlighted a fear around pit bulls in our communities. Are these dogs strong? Yes, absolutely! That is one of the fascinating characteristics about them. But why do we fear a muscular dog when we admire a muscular human? A well known myth about pit bulls is that they are naturally violent and aggressive. This of course, is completely false. These dogs are not born violent, just like any other dog or even with people, they can become violent from lack of teaching, leadership, irresponsible ownership, abuse, and many other contributing factors. Pit bulls are devoted to their family and will constitute a wonderful playmate and a lifetime friend – this is why manny regard them as nanny dogs (dogs good with children)
Along with the above subject comes another false argument, that Pitbulls have locking jaws, making them even more aggressive when they spring into action. Again, this is false. They bite the same as any other dog would. In fact, there is no scientific evidence that one breed is inherently more dangerous than another. I would like point out that there is a huge error in media when it comes to focusing on dog attacks. Statistics show that in 2015 alone, over 150 dogs that were involved in incidents were claimed to be of pit bull breed. However, a whopping 60 per cent of those dogs were misidentified. Thus demonstrating how people assume the breed based on stigma.
Please support my campaign to urge lawmakers in Wisconsin to reconsider the ban on pit bulls. These adorable and gentle creatures deserve so much better!
