The NHL Global Series sees teams for the National Hockey League come play regular games all across the world, including in Northern Europe.
I am from Finland, a hockey mad nation and believe the league should host at least one regular game in the country each year - the infrastructure is there (the Hartwall Arena in Helsinki meets all modern standards), the fan base as well as the purchasing power.
It is important to point out that the NHL has got everything right as far as the experience is concerned: the pre-game show is top notch, the entertainment is high class, the teams have brought their own announcers to enhance the experience, so if you are teleported into the arena, you will be tempted to think you are in the United States. One must commend the league for this performance. However, the reason why we, the undersigned, are unhappy is the quantity of the games. Games every two years will simply not cut it for avid hockey fans that the Fins are.
While I have enjoyed two great back-to-back games between Winnipeg Jets and Florida Panthers, this year the series have switched to Sweden and the Czech Republic. Finland deserved to be included as well!
Please support my campaign if you would like to see more NHL action in Finland. Thank you!
